| Lanzarote - colourful and at the same time desolate |
The north of the island is rough and forbidding, but the valley of 1000 palm-trees in Haria is a very beautiful green place.
In the middle of the island we meet sand, El Jable, and in north-west volcanic rock. Teguise, the legendary old capital, is the centre.
At the Papagayo Beaches in the south the sea plays affectionately around the small bays with its dreamlike sand. This paradise is to be found at the foot of the Ajaches. Burnt in late summer, prosperous in spring.
