Program:

Every holiday week has its own artistic or cultural motto. Therefore the weeks can be booked separately, but also combined. There are three different themes which are offered alternately so that jumping-ins are also possible, if the flight dates do not fit exactly.

Theme 1:

Fire and Water on Lanzarote

In this week we occupy ourselves with the elements fire and water. These elements have influenced Lanzarote in a very impressive way. We are going to visit volcans and fields of lava and we are going to explore a volcan on foot. Moreover we visit different beaches of Lanzarote and get to know the element water in all its beauty and power. We assimilate our experiences in painting or creating, either in nature or in studio. To get an intensive impression of the island and its people, the program also includes a small introduction into the Spanish language and the visit of typical markets and fiestas.

Theme 2:

César Manrique

César Manrique, the famous artist, architect and environmental protectionist of Lanzarote, and his manifold ideas and creations are in the centre of attention in this week. Manrique has left his marks all over Lanzarote, f.e. at many places you find his huge wind sculptures. His former residence is built inside of lava bubbles which are located one after another. Each bubble is designed in a different colour. His house is inimitably adapted to its volcanic surrounding.

We are going to visit subterranean caves and pathes which used to serve as hideout against pirates for the inhabitants of Lanzarote.

Moreover Manrique created an uncomparable Cactus Garden. It is designed like a bullfighting arena and it accomodates round about 1000 species.

We let ourselves feel inspired by Manrique's work and we form our own creations. Also in this week the program includes the visit of typical markets and fiestas and a small introduction into the Spanish language.

Theme 3:

Art on Lanzarote

Lanzarote awakens our creative power - in this week we occupy ourselves with the artist community of Lanzarote. We get to know different island artists and we visit current exhibitions or events.

Moreover we get to know different techniques and materials for our own creative activity: Messpainting, water colour, sculptures of sand etc.

To get an intensive impression of the island, its culture and its people, also in this week the program includes markets and fiestas and a small Spanish language course.

The program starts on Saturday, but it can easily be adapted to concrete flight dates in a flexible way.
