In this spirit playing with sand means creative work with earth - here of outstanding attraction because the beaches of Lanzarote offer a wide spectrum of different options from white to black sand.

Playing with sand means to create something physical and three-dimensional that we can work on from all sides - we are not limited by a two-dimensional peace of paper. We can very easily build something, but we can just as easily destroy it and start again. This characteristic of the medium sand facilitates trying out different things or ways of acting. You can leave your marks or cover them - therefore it is easier to overcome your inhibition threshold and to try something new.

Healing play of sand is an outdoor-project, so we directly engage with the elements earth and water. We also directly feel the air we breath and we burn the left-overs in a kind of ritual fire. In doing so we document symbolically the transformation of all earthly things to spiritual ones.

Workshop:

The workshop comprises 5 days. It takes place in the mornings (4 hours each day).

Normally, focal points become apparent in the first lessons of the workshop. We get closer to these key issues in individual and group settings. We discuss and document our creations by sketch or photo, after that we let them go and give them back to nature. Our sketch-diary will accompany us during the complete workshop.
